Annual Letter

Here we go….year 18 of riding in the Copper Triangle to raise money for Wild Bill’s Warriors. WOW...what an honor! I am always overwhelmed by your love, support, and kindness and grateful to have the opportunity to remember my dad by supporting two organizations that made a profound impact on his life: the Davis Phinney Foundation (“DPF”)
(https://www.davisphinneyfoundation.org/) and The Illinois Valley Brain Injury (Clubhouse (“Clubhouse”). The monies raised will help DPF provide valuable information, inspiration, and tools to empower individuals living with Parkinson's to lead fulfilling lives, while the Clubhouse will extend crucial support to members of my hometown, LaSalle County, who have been affected by various brain injuries.
How have I prepared for this ride? Life.
The Halcott Circus used 2023 and 2024 to dig ourselves out of the depths of a move, home remodel and Theo’s arrival in 2022. We sure knew how to pack it in, but might have finally found our limit with all of those in one year.
Our home finally feels like home, and we are fully intertwined in all the programs Park City has to offer. Marie (7) just finished first grade in a dual language immersion Spanish program. She did amazing and is well prepared for our Central American travels.
She enjoyed the ski season with a program that allowed her to go off a 6m ski jump at Utah Olympic Park. Her love for the arts was on full display with a performance in The Little The 4 minions in Nicaragua Mermaid where she sang, danced and lit up the stage. Will (5) is ALL in on whatever he is doing….wonder where he gets that from??? After wrapping up a ski season of 88 downhill ski days (but who’s counting) and numerous other cross country ski days, he immediately switched to mountain biking and has been ripping on two wheels ever since. We are excited to see him roll into kindergarten next year...though it may cut into his ski days! Evie (3) logged a whopping 50 ski days this year while demonstrating pure joy as she went down the mountain in her colorful tutu, arms out flying and singing (typically Taylor Swift). She is getting ready to start preschool and is SO excited. She will be at a co-op where Jennie and I both get the opportunity to volunteer.
We don’t worry about Evie; she is more than ready. We like to joke that she’s either going to be successful or land in jail, only time will tell. Theo (1) started walking and then immediately started running. He’s the entertainer of the crew. Being the fourth child,
he does whatever it takes to get our Closing day at Deer Valley attention, often getting belly laughs out of the
other kiddos with his silly antics. It’s SO fun watching him grow and find his spot among the chaos.
Jennie (25) continues to do an amazing job molding this crew and making life fun; I could not love her more. This was her first year of really getting into skiing and she did a great job. I wish I could say I helped her get out of her comfort zone on the slopes, but I just left that to Will. I did, in fact, do some biking to prepare for this ride. I just got back from the Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Camp where I rode the course and trained in preparation for the 2025 Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Race. It has always been a goal of mine to earn that belt buckle (their version of a medal)...and no better time than the present, right?! Don’t ask Jennie about her excitement regarding my training for this one. All in all, I am extremely blessed.
On the professional side, Naimish and I got back into the dental game with the launch of Seva Dental Team in February. We affiliated with our sixth office in June. Last go around this type of growth took three years! Experience can make quite a difference. Providus Capital is under letter of intent with our first platform and the team is excited to get started. I have enjoyed getting back to building businesses, but, more importantly, getting back to being with great partners. A successful partnership compounds the results that are achieved by each individual partner. Just like having Jennie as a partner in the game of life, or all of you for the ride each year, I am beyond blessed on the professional front as well.
I’m going into this year’s 78-mile Copper Triangle ride on a high from last year’s success. With your generosity, we surpassed our fundraising goal and helped both organizations long term plan and put the funds to good use. Specifically, for the Clubhouse, we are pursuing a permanent facility to better serve their community. On a sentimental note, I had three out of my four kids cross the same finish line with me that I used to cross with my dad on the tandem. I know Wild Bill would have been standing at the finish line with a shit eating grin on his face because he would have known the pain I went through to get them all on bikes to cross the line. Let’s BE WILD and continue making a difference together. If you would like to make a donation to support my ride on August 3rd,
please visit http://www.wildbillswarriors.org/. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Be Wild,
Evie (2) crossing the line of the Copper Triangle on her balance bike
